Mental Health Eating Disorders
Mental health eating disorders are serious medical conditions that involve abnormal eating behaviors and patterns. They are characterized by extreme emotions, attitudes, and behaviors related to food and weight. Examples of these disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). Eating disorders can have severe impacts on mental, emotional, and physical health, sometimes leading to life-threatening conditions. Treatment requires specialized care and may include psychotherapy, nutritional counseling, and medication management. With proper treatment, individuals can learn to develop healthy eating patterns and behaviors, as well as a healthier relationship with food and body image.
