Signs and Symptoms

of Schizophrenia Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels and acts. It causes people to experience a range of psychological symptoms, including hallucinations, delusions and disorganized thinking and behavior. The signs and symptoms of this condition vary from person to person and may include social withdrawal, limited speech, difficulty expressing emotions, difficulty focusing and impaired reasoning. Treatment for schizophrenia typically involves a combination of antipsychotic medication, psychosocial therapies, and lifestyle modifications. With proper treatment, people with schizophrenia can lead healthy, active lives.
