HIV Drug Resistance
HIV drug resistance is a major challenge in treating patients with HIV/AIDS. It occurs when the virus mutates, allowing it to survive in the presence of certain drugs normally used to inhibit its replication. HIV drug resistance reduces the effectiveness of the current HIV therapies, leading to the need for alternative treatments. HIV drug resistance can cause the virus to become drug-resistant and multiply, leading to an increased risk of disease progression and transmission of the virus. This is why it is important to monitor drug resistance and make sure that HIV treatments are as effective as possible. In order to improve HIV treatments and reduce HIV drug resistance, more research is needed to better understand the mechanisms of HIV drug resistance and how it is transmitted from one person to another.
