Gonorrhea and HIV
coinfection Gonorrhea and HIV coinfection is a condition where an individual is infected with both the Gonorrhea and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) simultaneously. This condition can have serious and potentially life-threatening consequences, and is of particular concern in areas with high rates of HIV and sexually transmitted infections. Coinfection can increase the risk of HIV transmission, and can worsen HIV-related symptoms and disease progression, leading to faster-deteriorating health. Effective diagnosis and treatment of both infections at the same time is important to minimize risks, and to prevent the spread of disease.
