Pediatric Cardiology
Pediatric cardiology is a subspecialty of medicine that focuses on diagnosing and treating heart conditions among infants, children and adolescents. It is the scientific research, management, and treatment of congenital and acquired heart disease in children and provides comprehensive care to children with heart disease, including pre- and post-operative care. With advances in medical technology, children with congenital heart conditions have better long-term prognoses and improved quality of life. Important treatments include echocardiography, angiography, cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery, interventional cardiac therapies and electrophysiology. Pediatric cardiology services are essential to providing high-quality, compassionate care to children with heart disease.
