Nursing Ethics
Nursing ethics are the ethical and moral principles that guide the practice of nursing. They serve as a foundation of professional judgment and decision-making, helping nurses to provide quality care to patients and families. Nursing ethics are based on the need to protect and promote the rights, safety and health of patients, while at the same time upholding the professional integrity of all nurses. Nursing ethics help to ensure that ethical principles, such as respect for autonomy, justice, beneficence and nonmaleficence, are considered in every nursing decision and action. Nursing ethics also help nurses to identify and address ethical problems, develop professional values and provide ethical guidance to others. As a result, nursing ethics play a vital role in helping nurses to provide compassionate and competent care to the people they serve.
