Intravenous Therapy Nursing
Intravenous (IV) therapy nursing is the practice of administering intravenous fluids, medications, and nutrients to patients through the veins for a variety of medical purposes. This type of therapy is used to replenish lost fluids and electrolytes, deliver needed nutrients and drugs, and help treat infections and other medical issues. It is also used to provide hydration and to support nutritional needs when more traditional methods are not feasible. IV therapy nursing is an important specialty in healthcare, as it requires specialized knowledge, skill, and training in order to safely and effectively administer IV fluids, medications, and nutrients. The nurse’s role in IV therapy is to monitor patient safety, ensure proper delivery of medications, provide patient education, and address any patient-specific needs or concerns.
