Flight Nursing

Flight nursing is an area of healthcare that specializes in air medical transport services, such as emergency transport of critically ill or injured patients or transport between medical facilities. Flight nurses are registered nurses who are specially trained to provide clinical care in a pre-hospital or inter-facility air medical environment. They assess and manage the medical needs of patients in flight, provide medical treatments and administer emergency medications, and may provide vital sign monitoring and other lifesaving interventions during transport. Flight nurses also maintain communication with medical personnel on the ground, report patient care observations, and provide support to the pilot, crew and medical team. Flight nursing is an important component in providing quality medical care to a wide population quickly and safely.
