Faith Community Nursing
Faith Community Nursing, also known as Parish Nursing, is a specialized practice of professional nursing that focuses on the intentional care of the spirit as well as the promotion of whole person health within a faith community. Faith community nurses partner with individuals, families, and faith communities to provide health promotion and counseling, disease prevention, and health education activities. The practice of faith community nursing incorporates evidence-based care, spiritual care, and health education. This specialized practice is rooted in the belief that a nurse, in partnership with individuals and families, can support each other and assist in the process of healing and healthier living. Faith community nursing is an increasingly important healthcare option for individuals and families, promoting overall health through preventative care, education, and spiritual care.
