Epidemiology

Epidemiology is a branch of public health science that studies the factors that cause, prevent, and control the incidence, distribution, and outcomes of health events in a population. It is an important tool to understand the causes of health outcomes at both the individual and population levels. Epidemiological studies can be used to identify risk factors associated with diseases, identify new treatments, develop public health initiatives, and track the spread of contagious diseases. Epidemiology is critical for informing decisions about how to allocate resources for healthcare, informing strategies for preventing and treating illness, and providing evidence for developing public health policies.
