Zoonotic Pathogens

Zoonotic pathogens are microorganisms which can transmit from animals to humans. They may cause a range of diseases from minor skin infections to more serious diseases such as rabies, Q-fever, and Ebola. Zoonotic pathogens are a public health concern as they can severely affect both human and animal populations. Effective prevention and control measures are essential for reducing the burden of diseases caused by these pathogens. Prevention strategies include improved hygienic practices and animal health surveillance, while control measures include vaccination, quarantine and early detection of infected individuals. Awareness of the potential risk associated with zoonotic pathogens and their early detection is important in reducing their spread and their effects on human and animal health.
