Veterinary Pathology

Veterinary Pathology is a branch of veterinary science that deals with diagnosing and understanding diseases as they affect animals. This specialty helps veterinarians to better understand animals' disorders, and also helps owners in understanding their pets' diseases. Veterinary pathologists utilize a variety of tests and techniques, such as histopathology (examination of tissue samples), microbiology, genetics and immunohistochemistry, to detect and understand diseases in animals. Veterinary pathologists provide invaluable information to veterinarians and animal owners, making them an important part of the veterinary healthcare team. Veterinary pathology is essential to animal wellbeing, research and education, as it plays an integral role in finding preventative care and treatments that improve the health and longevity of animals.
