Trypanosoma Congolense
Trypanosoma Congolense is a species of protozoan parasites that affect domesticated animals and other mammals, particularly in African countries. It is a significant cause of mortality and morbidity in these animals, as well as a major zoonotic diseases that can be spread to humans. These parasites cause anemia and can lead to anorexia, lethargy, weight loss and death if left untreated. Diagnosis and treatment of trypanosomiasis caused by T. Congolense are based on drugs, but control through vector control and improved livestock management are also essential. Vaccines and genetic resistance in animals are important preventive tools that can help reduce the spread of the parasite.
