Pathology Pathophysiology
Pathology is the scientific study of the causes and effects of disease or injury. Pathophysiology is the branch of pathology that studies the changes that occur in the body's physiology due to changes in the environment or in the body itself. Both disciplines are important to the understanding of the effects of disease, injuries, and health in general. Pathology and pathophysiology are used to diagnose and treat diseases, improve public health, understand the underlying causes of diseases, and develop treatments for diseases. As such, they are essential medical specialties and areas of medical research.
