Mycoplasma Pneumoniae
Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a type of bacteria that is responsible for causing a wide variety of respiratory illnesses, most commonly known as "walking pneumonia". It is considered an atypical form of pneumonia and is spread through airborne droplets, such as coughing and sneezing. Symptoms of infection can include fever, chills, dry cough, headache, sore throat and fatigue. Mycoplasma pneumoniae can also lead to more serious problems, such as inflammation of the lungs and heart, which can lead to serious complications. Treatment of Mycoplasma pneumoniae usually involves antibiotics and supportive care. Vaccines are available to protect against the disease, but they are not 100% effective. Early diagnosis and treatment is important to prevent more serious health problems.
