Enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia Coli

Enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) is a type of bacteria that can cause severe illness in humans. Infection with EHEC can lead to severe vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and even death in some cases. EHEC is of major concern due to its ability to cause foodborne illnesses, and outbreaks have been linked to contaminated food products such as raw beef, leafy greens, and unpasteurized milk. EHEC infection can be treated with antibiotics, however it is important to practice food safety to reduce the risk of infection. This includes thoroughly cooking food, washing hands and surfaces, and avoiding cross-contamination.
