Disease Ecology
Disease ecology is the study of the interactions between disease-causing agents, their hosts, and their environment. It brings together research from many fields, including epidemiology, evolutionary biology, and medical ecology, in order to understand the ecological and environmental factors influencing the spread and prevalence of disease. Disease ecology is a critical component of public health research, as it can help us better predict, monitor, and control the spread of infectious and chronic diseases. Such an understanding can inform the development of cost-effective, evidence-based interventions to improve the health of individuals and populations.
