Dermatology is a medical specialty that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases related to the skin, hair, and nails. Dermatologic Pathology is a subspecialty of Dermatology which involves the study of skin biopsies and other tissue samples to diagnose and interpret diseases of the skin. Dermatologic Pathology is critical in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases and disorders. It is used to gain insight into the cause of the disorder, determine the extent of the disease and guide which treatments may be most effective.
