Colitis

Colitis is a medical condition in which the lining of the colon is inflamed, resulting in abdominal discomfort, cramps, diarrhea, and bloody stools. It is a common digestive disorder that affects millions of people around the world. In most cases, colitis is caused by a bacterial or viral infection, though some cases may be due to food allergies or sensitivities, or other underlying medical conditions. Treatment for colitis typically involves medications that can reduce inflammation and control the symptoms, as well as dietary and lifestyle modifications. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment can help to prevent serious complications, such as bleeding and ruptured colon, that can be life-threatening.
