Cerebral Malaria
Cerebral malaria is a life-threatening form of malaria, caused by Plasmodium falciparum parasites. It is a medical emergency that can occur when an infected mosquito bites a human, transferring the parasites into the bloodstream. Symptoms may include fever, headaches, seizures and confusion, and can lead to coma and death if left untreated. Treatment options include early and aggressive anti-malarial medications, supportive care and intensive monitoring. Cerebral malaria is a major cause of mortality among children in endemic areas, and its recognition and prompt treatment is essential for improved outcomes.
