Sex Chromosomes
Sex Chromosomes are special kinds of chromosomes that help determine an individual’s gender. They are found in all sexually reproducing organisms, and humans have two different kinds: the X and Y chromosomes. The sex of a person is determined by the combination of these two chromosomes, with XX being female and XY male. During cell division, sex chromosomes separate and pass on their genetic information to the female or male offspring. This means that the male and female sexes have different genetic makeup, and this affects the characteristics an individual may have. Sex chromosomes are also important for genetic research as they can be used to study the conditions associated with a certain sex.
