Micronuclei
Micronuclei are small, distinct chromosomes found in the cytoplasm of a cell. They are important for understanding the effects of genetic mutations, as well as for monitoring radiation exposure. The presence of micronuclei can indicate instability in a cell’s genetic material, and can potentially lead to cancer. Micronuclei can also be used to monitor the effects of environmental pollutants and toxins, as well as to measure the amount of radiation a person has been exposed to. In research, micronuclei can be used to study the effects of new drugs, as micronuclei can be used to measure the amount of genetic damage caused by a drug.
