Genes Chromosomes Cancer
Genes, Chromosomes and Cancer are all closely related. Genes are sections of DNA that give cells instructions on how to function. Chromosomes are structures within cells that contain DNA and genes. Cancer is caused when changes occur in the genes and chromosomes of cells, causing them to divide uncontrollably. By understanding how genes, chromosomes, and cancer are linked, researchers hope to be able to diagnose and treat cancer more effectively. In the future, this research may also lead to ways to prevent cancer from developing.
