Neuropsychology
Neuropsychology is a branch of psychology that studies how the structure, chemistry and function of the brain relate to behaviors, thoughts, and emotions. It is a multidisciplinary field, drawing on research from psychiatry, neurology, cognitive science, neuroscience, and more. Neuropsychological evaluations are useful for assessing cognitive, behavioral, and personality changes associated with neurological or medical conditions such as traumatic brain injury or dementia. Neuropsychological assessment provides important information for determining how to best address the needs of individuals with neurological injury or medical condition. Neuropsychology research also helps to understand the neural basis of psychiatric and psychological disorders, enabling the development of more effective treatments.
