Palliative Care
Palliative care is a specialized approach to medical care that focuses on providing relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of serious illnesses. It is offered to patients at any stage of illness and is typically provided by interdisciplinary teams of health care professionals. Palliative care emphasizes quality of life and helps people live as well as possible, despite their illness. It can provide a wide range of services, including helping with decision-making, managing pain and symptom control, providing emotional and spiritual support, and helping patients and families cope with end-of-life issues. Palliative care can be provided in many different settings, including hospitals, hospices, long-term care facilities, and in the home. It is an essential part of providing comfort, hope, and compassion to those living with serious illnesses.
