Refined Carbohydrates
Refined carbohydrates are a type of simple carbohydrates that have been processed or refined to remove or reduce the nutritional content, such as fiber, vitamins and minerals. They are often found in processed foods such as white bread, sugary cereals, and white sugar. Refined carbohydrates are considered to have a higher glycemic index, which can lead to a higher risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Although consuming small amounts of refined carbohydrates may not be harmful, it is best to limit their intake and combine them with healthy proteins and fats to maintain a balanced diet.
