Glycogen
Glycogen is a form of glucose, which is the main form of energy used in the body. It is the main storage form of glucose in humans and animals, and is used to provide energy for metabolism, muscle movement and other bodily functions. It is stored in the liver and muscle tissues and is released into the bloodstream when needed. Glycogen has a critical role in glucose homeostasis and is an important energy source for the body during periods of energy deprivation such as exercise and fasting. It is also involved in the regulation of blood sugar levels and plays a role in other metabolic processes.
