Glycan Biosynthesis
Glycans are a type of carbohydrate molecule that are found in most organisms and are important for a wide range of bodily functions. Glycan biosynthesis is the process by which glycans are produced and modified within the body. This process is essential for the proper functioning of multiple systems, such as the immune and nervous systems, as well as for growth, development, and reproduction. Abnormalities in glycan biosynthesis can lead to serious health problems, such as metabolic disorders and immune deficiencies. Research into glycan biosynthesis is important for understanding the underlying causes of these health disorders, in order to develop better treatments.
