Carbohydrate Receptors
Carbohydrate receptors are proteins found in the cell surface that recognize and bind to carbohydrates such as sugars and starches. They play an important role in many biological processes and are involved in cell-cell recognition, cell adhesion, and immune responses. These receptors also serve as targets for drug development, as they allow for the study of new therapeutics for diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and inflammation. By understanding how these receptors work, scientists can develop drugs that can effectively target the disease.
