Carbohydrate-binding Proteins

Carbohydrate-binding proteins are proteins involved in the binding of carbohydrates to cells or to other proteins. Such proteins play an important role in many biological processes, including the recognition, adhesion, and activation of molecules. They are also used in the production of food, pharmaceuticals, and research tools. By recognizing and binding to specific carbohydrates, these proteins facilitate the transport of necessary nutrients and help cells recognize invaders. Additionally, carbohydrate-binding proteins are used in biotechnology as tools for various applications such as diagnostics, therapeutics, and drug delivery.
