Selection Markers
Selection markers are genetic sequences used for the purpose of identifying specific organisms. They are usually introduced into a population by artificial means, and mark particular individuals so that they can be identified and studied. Selection markers are used in many different fields, including genetics, biotechnology, agriculture, medical research, and drug development. They allow scientists to manipulate, select, and identify specific organisms or parts of an organism in a population. For example, they can be used to identify gene-modified organisms in agricultural populations or to study the effects of a particular gene in a medical research study. Selection markers are essential tools for understanding how organisms and genes interact and how they can best be used to improve human health.
