Relapsed Cancer
Relapsed cancer is when cancer returns after a period of remission (where previously active cancer is no longer detectable or observable). Relapsed cancer is a pressing and significant health concern due to its high occurrence and the limited success of treatment for those who experience this. The best way to treat relapsed cancer is through targeted therapies – such as immunotherapy and targeted drugs – to address the different effects and progression of the cancer. By analyzing the relapsed cancer, it is possible to better understand what caused its return and to tailor more effective treatments. Additionally, early detection is key so that those experiencing relapsed cancer can be offered better care, leading to more favorable outcomes.
