Invasive Lobular Carcinoma
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is a type of breast cancer. It is the second most common form of breast cancer, after infiltrating ductal carcinoma. ILC can be very aggressive and often is found in multiple parts of the breast, including the lymph nodes. Its cellular structure is more diffuse than that of other breast cancer types, meaning it can spread quickly throughout the body. It is a very complex type of cancer and it affects different women in different ways. It is important to diagnose this condition early as its timely diagnosis and treatment can increase the chance of survival. Treatment often includes surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation.
