Antenatal Depression
Antenatal depression is a common mental health condition that affects pregnant women during and after pregnancy. It is characterised by low moods and other symptoms such as fatigue, changes in appetite and sleep, feelings of guilt, lack of concentration and a general lack of interest in activities. Antenatal depression can have a considerable impact on the pregnant woman's life, and it may need to be addressed with psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and in some cases, medications. It is important to recognise and treat antenatal depression to ensure the health of both mother and baby. Treatment can help to reduce the risk of postpartum depression and can improve the woman's physical and mental health during and after pregnancy.
