mass spectrometry Imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) is a powerful analytical technique used to accurately identify, localize, and quantify the composition of complex samples. It combines mass spectrometry with microscope technologies, allowing researchers to rapidly analyze the chemical makeup of biological samples with high spatial resolution. IMS can be used to study the distribution of proteins, lipids, metabolites, and other molecules within samples, as well as providing insight into interactions between molecules. It is an invaluable tool for understanding protein and metabolite localization, molecular interactions, and biochemical pathways. It has applications in a variety of fields, such as drug discovery, environmental science, and clinical research.
