Genetics

Genetics is the study of heredity, the process by which genes are passed from parents to their offspring. Through genetics, we are able to study the characteristics of organisms, how those characteristics are passed down from generation to generation, and how they interact with the environment. By understanding genetics, we can improve treatments for many illnesses, create stronger crops and livestock, and learn more about our own ancestry. Genetics is also important for conservation efforts, as researchers can use genetics to identify species and monitor their populations. Genetics is a rapidly advancing field with many exciting applications, and will continue to be a leading source of insight into our past, present, and future.
