Breast Cancer Prevention
Breast cancer is an abnormal growth of cells in the breasts that can potentially spread to other parts of the body. Although breast cancer is treatable, preventing it is the best way to keep individuals safe. Breast cancer prevention focuses on lifestyle changes, environmental factors, and medical interventions that reduce the risk of getting breast cancer. Lifestyle changes, such as maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, and avoiding smoking, can reduce the risk of breast cancer. Additionally, avoiding environmental exposures, such as certain radiation sources and certain chemicals, can decrease the risk of breast cancer. Lastly, preventative medical interventions, such as breast cancer screenings, mammogram, genetic testing and medications, can help detect abnormalities and reduce the risk of developing the disease. Taking these measures can reduce the chance of developing breast cancer and increase an individual’s overall health.
