Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma
Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common type of thyroid cancer, accounting for about 80% of all thyroid cancers. It is typically slow growing and affects the thyroid gland, located in the neck. Symptoms include a swelling in the neck, difficulty swallowing, and hoarseness. Treatment may include surgery, radiation therapy, and/or hormone therapy. Early detection is key to successful treatment, making it important for individuals with a family history of thyroid cancer or thyroid disease to be regularly checked. With proper management, the prognosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma is good, with many patients being cured.
