Cerebellar Ataxia

Cerebellar ataxia is a neurological disorder that affects the coordination and balance of an individual. Its symptoms typically include difficulties in walking, talking, and maintaining posture. Cerebellar ataxia is caused by damage to the cerebellum, a region of the brain responsible for fine motor coordination, balance and posture. It can be caused by brain tumors, stroke, alcohol abuse, head trauma, or genetic mutations. Treatment for cerebellar ataxia typically involves physical therapy, speech and language therapies, medications, and surgery. Improving quality of life is the main goal of treatment. Early diagnosis and treatment can improve outcomes and help individuals with cerebellar ataxia lead a more independent life.
