Translational Research
Translational research is a scientific approach to bridge the gap between basic laboratory research and clinical practice. It is an interdisciplinary field that merges discoveries in the laboratory and clinic, to understand and treat disease. Translational research involves the rapid and efficient transfer of discoveries in the laboratory to clinical applications that lead to improved patient outcomes and better health care. It may involve understanding basic biological processes, clinical trial development, development of therapies, and the implementation of interventions. By using this approach, researchers can develop new treatments, reduce health disparities, and improve health outcomes. The ultimate goal of translational research is to improve the lives and health of patients.
