Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy is a form of cancer treatment that uses high-energy beams, such as X-rays, to kill cancer cells. In this treatment, radiation is used to target and destroy cancer cells. Radiation therapy may be used alone or in combination with surgery, chemotherapy, and/or immunotherapy. It can be used to cure cancer or to help reduce symptoms, such as pain and swelling. The benefit of radiation therapy is that it can be tailored to each individual patient and tumor type. Side effects from radiation therapy can include fatigue, skin irritation, and organ damage, however, the risk of these side effects can be minimized through careful planning and management. Radiation therapy is an important part of cancer treatment for many patients and can improve outcomes.
