Osteonecrosis

Osteonecrosis is a medical condition in which bone tissue dies due to a lack of blood supply to the affected area. This often occurs in the hips, shoulders, and knees. Osteonecrosis can cause pain, swelling, and stiffness in the affected joints, and can make everyday activities difficult. Treatment options for osteonecrosis include lifestyle changes, medication, physical therapy, and surgery. Early diagnosis and treatment of osteonecrosis can help to reduce pain and maintain joint function.

Bone marrow is the spongy tissue inside some of the bones in the body, including the hip and thigh bones. Bone marrow contains cells called stem cells.
