Heritable Disorders of Connective Tissue
Heritable Disorders of Connective Tissue (HDCTs) are a group of inherited conditions affecting the body's cells and tissues that hold the body together. HDCTs typically include abnormal development of bones, blood vessels, muscles, and skin. These disorders can lead to physical disability and chronic pain, and can be life-threatening in some cases. However, advances in genetic testing and treatment have improved survival and quality of life for those affected. HDCTs are valuable for research as they can offer insights into the structure and function of tissues in general, as well as provide a platform for testing new treatments for genetic disorders.
