Epidemiology

Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states or events in specified populations and the application of this study to the control of health problems. It is a science of public health that aims to identify the causes of disease, analyze patterns and trends in health in order to improve prevention and treatment strategies. Epidemiology is used to investigate outbreaks of infectious diseases, monitor changing disease patterns, and evaluate the effectiveness of health interventions. It provides important information for health policy makers, clinicians and researchers to inform the development of new treatments and preventive strategies.
