Serous Fluid
Serous fluid is a clear and colorless fluid that is found in many areas of the human body. It consists of proteins, electrolytes, hormones, and other substances. Its main role is to lubricate and cushion organs and surfaces in the body, reducing friction between them. Serous fluid also plays a role in helping to regulate the temperature of certain parts of the body. It can be found in the pleural cavities, eyes and in the abdomen, where it is known as peritoneal fluid. Imbalances of serous fluid can lead to conditions such as hydrocephalus and ascites.
