Serology

Serology is the branch of medical science that focuses on the study of serum, or the fluid portion of the blood that is composed of proteins. It is most commonly used in clinical practice to diagnose and monitor diseases such as viral and bacterial infections, autoimmune disorders, and malignancies. Additionally, serology can be used to detect and measure the presence of antibodies in patients, which can be essential in diagnosing and monitoring a wide range of diseases. This process of testing serum is invaluable to clinicians and researchers as it provides insight into a person’s health and can ultimately lead to improved care and treatments for various conditions.
