Pleural Fluid
cytology Pleural fluid cytology is a laboratory test used to identify certain types of cells in the fluid that gathers in the pleural space (the area between the lungs and chest wall). It helps identify signs of inflammation, infection, and tumors, and can be used to diagnose or rule out an underlying condition. It is an important tool for diagnosing pleural diseases such as cancer, tuberculosis, or pleural effusion (buildup of fluid in the pleural space). Results from pleural fluid cytology can provide important information for designing a treatment plan for these conditions.
