Osmotic Pressure in Body Fluids
Osmotic pressure is a physical force within body fluids that helps maintain homeostasis. It works by regulating the concentration of water and dissolved substances such as electrolytes inside and outside of cells. Osmotic pressure is due to the presence of dissolved particles in a solution, which create a concentration gradient between the two sides. As a result, water is drawn in one direction to even out the concentration on both sides.
