Molecular Pathology
Molecular pathology is a field of medicine that uses molecular biology techniques to elucidate the cause of a disease or diagnose a condition. It relies on the study of the genetic, biochemical and molecular basis of disease processes to diagnose and provide insight into the development and progression of conditions. Molecular pathology has become increasingly important as advances in molecular biology have enabled the identification of dozens of diseases, the development of effective new treatments and the more accurate diagnosis of conditions. The use of molecular pathology means more comprehensive information about a condition can be obtained, leading to more informed treatment decisions and improved clinical outcomes.
