Metabolomics
Metabolomics is the study of metabolites, which are the small molecules produced by cells and are essential for the functioning of living organisms. Through advances in technology and methods, it is now possible to measure the concentrations of hundreds of metabolites and use these measurements to gain insight into the metabolic pathways and disease states of organisms. Metabolomics has become an increasingly important tool for drug discovery, nutrition science, and the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, such as diabetes and cancer. It provides an holistic view of the metabolic system and, combined with other forms of omics, can provide valuable insights into the complex processes driving life.
